In Science, we have been learning how to describe ways to separate the components of a mixture by their physical properties (e.g. sorting, magnets, screening).

Please describe one way you can separate a mixture.

  2. Ben says, you can seperate brass nails and medle nails with a magnet. This is because medle can stick to a magnet but brass can't.

  4. Brooklyn,
Think about this- how would you separate the water and Lima beans using a cup? How could a colander work better at separating?

  5. Ainsley says...I know one way to separate water and beans. You need filter paper, beans, water, and a bowl. Use the filter paper to separate the beans and water. The bowl is to collect the water just in case you aren't near a sink.

  7. This principle is just like what Taryn and Taylor's Dad does at his work. At his metal recycling facility they use giant magnets to separate the metal in cars from all the extra fluff, like the seat cushions. It's pretty cool to watch.
